The original ideas man and driver of Fidock Farm. Gus started our home veggie patch which quickly evolved into a fully-fledged self-learning mission through podcasts, videos and books finding his way to Market Gardens. This shaped the way we design our beds and how we can produce so much from so little. Gus is an inventor at heart and can build anything out of materials lying around.
Jess started off as the support team and extra muscle behind Gus's dream. She quickly got hooked when the flavours sent her back to her childhood and family garden. Being able to share those flavours with the community is what keeps her motivation going. Jess has a deep love for the environment and is amazed everyday by the changes in the soil and wildlife.
The best farm companion a human could ask for. When she's not off chasing away the rabbits you'll often find her sleeping in the sun by the garden. She's a cuddly pup so during harvest time her favourite position is at our feet (often squishing the poor veg). Come and meet Rosie at the Victor and Cittaslow Markets.
Our story

Our market garden began as a small veggie garden in an old horse paddock — a patch of ground where nothing much wanted to grow. The soil was dry, lifeless, and hydrophobic but with time, compost and a lot of care, it slowly began to wake up. What started as a few struggling plants has grown into a thriving farm full of colour, flavour and life.
Together with our kelpie, we now grow a wide variety of seasonal vegetables here in Goolwa, South Australia. We grow using organic methods, following natural growing practices that focus on improving soil health and working with nature rather than against it.
For us, growing food is about more than just vegetables — it’s about rebuilding the soil, feeding our community and creating something meaningful from the ground up. Every harvest is a reminder of how much life can return to the land when it’s cared for with patience and respect.
